Who we are
Rathbones has a heritage dating back to 1742, and we are one of the UK and Europe’s leading providers of investment management services for private clients, charities, pensions and professional advisers. With 14 investment offices, including a wholly owned Jersey subsidiary Rathbones Investment Management International, we are a FTSE-250 listed company with more than 215 investment managers. Our award winning success and reputation is built on the simple, but increasingly rare, commitment to superior client service as well as state-of-the-art administrative systems. Through independent ownership and thinking, we offer a best-of-breed and objective perspective on your investments. This, together with direct access to your investment management team, results in an investment portfolio that will meet your requirements. Our services are delivered to you by our experienced multi-disciplined team of investment professionals, both onshore and offshore. We strongly believe in providing an individual service, backed-up by the award winning, performance driven Rathbone investment process.
What we do
We cater for the investment needs of private clients, charities and professional advisers, including those who are looking for an international perspective on their investments. For all investment strategies, irrespective of differing risk profiles, our primary objective is to maintain our clients’ real value of capital over time. We define risk as losing money, not underperforming a benchmark and we define success as meeting our clients’ risk and return expectations. Rathbones are experts in targeted risk and return mandates. Our expertise is delivered through risk-adjusted multi asset and multi strategy portfolios. We have a robust and proven investment process which blends both asset allocation and independent investment selection. Key areas within the process are risk analysis, liquidity, valuations and changing correlations. Driven by a blend of fundamental analysis and intuition we target client specific objectives using unconstrained implementation. Through our unconstrained approach we allocate capital only to asset classes we believe will outperform cash and not purely because of their low correlation to equities or bonds. Our portfolios are constructed around for example; cash, bonds, equities, property, commodities, hedge funds and other alternative strategies.
